Reunions-Tom Thayer

On Saturday May 16th 2009 my daughter Wendy and I were at our storage unit in Auburn, Washington.  We were there to show a man a refrigerator we had for sale.  We were parked waiting in our two-ton truck with the refrigerator in the back.  The man we were meeting drove up and parked about 75 feet behind us.  As he was opening the door to get out, the other door on his crewcab pickup flew open and a little girl jumped out.   Before her feet hit the ground she had yelled in a very happy, almost screaming little voice, "Hi Tom, how are you doing? "   As she ran towards me she yelled again, "Look how fast I can run now!"

The joy in her voice was a shock to me.  She was so happy to see me and could not stop telling me how well she could run and jump and everything else.  Her father walked over and introduced himself and then we climbed into the back of the truck to look at the refrigerator.  She was in there in a shot.  He looked at it and inspected it closely and asked a few questions.  He turned to her and asked her what she thought.  She reached out and slapped the refrigerator on the side and said, "This one is perfect; we will take it."

When we started to load the refrigerator into his truck, Wendy took her and helped her down to the ground to keep her safe.  As quick as her feet hit the ground, she was airborne again and jumped back into the truck and raced up to help me.  I put her in a safe place and loaded the refrigerator in her father's pickup.  Her eyes sparkled and she was so alive and full of love and joy.  Everything was "Tom this" and "Tom that."  I wanted to hug her, but because of where our society has gone, I did not.

Once the refrigerator was tied in the truck, I finally said to her, "Can I shake your hand?"  She reached up with her little four-year-old-girl hand and took mine and shook it.  As she was holding my hand she looked me straight in the eye and said, "Tom, it has been so long since I have seen you."  She knew me, not from her four years on this planet in this life.  She knew me from ages ago out there.  I had the feeling that she knew more about me on the other side of the veil than I could imagine.

She was the second one to step through and encourage me in three days time.  Wendy's comment was that all she wanted to do was talk to me.  It seemed she wanted to talk of old times and catch up on our stories.  I felt the Love of the Creator and the Love of All in this one little girl who knew things about me that I forgot long ago. The love and excitement that she had is what we will all experience as we reunite with our long-lost friends and families from all over out there.
